The Wizard of Oz - 2019Nordonia Drama was off to see the Wizard as they presented The Wizard of Oz as their 2019 spring musical production. The musical is based on the beloved MGM motion picture, which celebrated its 80th anniversary in 2019
The Wizard of Oz ran April 12-14, 2019, earned 4 Playhouse Square Dazzle Award nominations, and broke Nordonia Drama attendance and box office records! Directing The Wizard of Oz was Nordonia Director of Drama, Chris Simmons, assisted by Megan Gargano, who also choreographed. Kathleen Pellington and John Pickering served as Musical Director and Orchestra Conductor. Kitty Flauto returned once again to Nordonia Drama this year to create all the Oz-ified makeup and hair designs. |

2019 Dazzle Awards
Nordonia Drama participated in the 4th Annual Playhouse Square Dazzle Awards presented by Pat and John Chapman. The Dazzle Awards are high school musical theatre awards for Northeast Ohio.
Our production of The Wizard of Oz earned four nominations: Best Musical, Best Ensemble/Chorus, Best Choreography Execution and Best Student Orchestra. The Dazzle Awards were held on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at the Connor Palace in Playhouse Square. As a Best Musical nominee, our cast reprised our performance of "The Jitterbug" on the Connor Palace stage!
Even though we did not walk away with any awards, we were already winners being able to perform and celebrate the amazing work of high school theatre in Northeast Ohio! Below are photos from that night.
